Why do Pilates?
Pilates is a type of anaerobic gymnastic that is closely linked to improving your health and physical well-being. It is a great routine in which you do not work at high rates, in Pilates you work your resistance, you tone your muscles without increasing the volume, while improving your flexibility and agility without becoming fatigued as occurs with other sports or aerobic exercises.
Pilates exercises adapt to whatever your physical condition, help you lose weight, and not only strengthen your muscles but also your ligaments and joints, this logically has an impact on the drastic reduction of injuries.
Most of the exercises you do in Pilates directly contribute to improving your body posture, reducing your neck, back and lumbar pain, something very common today due to our lifestyle.
Joseph Pilates originally called his work “Contrology.” All exercises have an integrating effect on mind, body and spirit based on six concepts:
Centering: The energy focus of each exercise is drawn from the center, the area of power between the lower ribs and the pubic bone.
Concentration: If you give your full attention to the exercise and do it with great effort, you will get the most value from each movement.
Control: All exercises are performed with complete muscle control, no part of the body is left to its own devices.
Accuracy: Each movement has an appropriate location, a comprehensive body alignment and a precise trajectory.
Breathing: Most Pilates exercises are coordinated with breathing. Breathing is done in a deep and diaphragmatic way, being an integral part of the exercise.
Flow: Pilates exercise is done in a flowing manner. Fluidity, grace, and ease are goals applied to all exercises. The energy of an exercise connects all body parts and flows through the body in an even way.
