Ashta means “eight”. Anga means “part or point”. It is the salute or the posture with eight parts in contact with the earth (toes, knees, hands, chest and chin).
From Adho Mukha Svanasana exhale and bring your knees, chest and chin to the ground. Raise the lumbar area and sacrum to the sky, your elbows should be next to the body and pointing backwards. This posture is performed with air retention after exhaling (bahya kumbhaka).
